In 2024, it is hard to believe the Gender Pay Gap still exists. But is does and Michigan ranks 37th among states, making 22 cents less per dollar earned by men. When applied to median annual earnings, this means women earn $11,675 less per year. Strong pay equity laws help close the pay gap, but other factors affect the wage difference, including occupational segregation, discrimination and worker's parental status. Further, women are not fully recognized in the United State Constitution.\n
