The International Affairs Forum at Northwestern Michigan College presents its 3rd annual Foreign Policy Mashup with featured panelist Bill Clifford, president and CEO of the World Affairs Councils of America, nonresident senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute of the Johns Hopkins University's Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Co-panelists include: Karen Puschel Segal is a former diplomat in the State Department, specializing in Soviet and then Russian affairs, and a Council on Foreign Relations scholar / author with a masters in international relations from Georgetown University. She and her husband Jack Segal opened the U.S. Consulate in Yekaterinburg in 1994 at the height of U.S.-Russian relations. Karen actively facilitates dialogue and education about global issues and currently leads resettlement efforts for Afghan families in the Traverse City area. Stanley Otto, co-chair of the IAF Advisory Board, former senior diplomat in the State Department with 40 years expertise in promoting international cooperation and understanding, including policy planning, negotiating and management in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
